Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before you order — shelf life, what’s in the bag, delivery and returns. Can’t find your answer? The team are always happy to help.

Our crisps

What’s the shelf life?+

Your crisps typically arrive with at least 4 months of shelf life left on them. Every bag carries a clear best-before date printed on the back. Because we hand-cook in small batches and send straight from the farm, they’re at their freshest enjoyed well within that date.

How should I store them?+

Keep bags somewhere cool (they don’t like heat) and dry, out of direct sunlight, and sealed until you’re ready to tuck in. Opened bags of crisps will be good for a few days if you keep them in an airtight container.

What makes Just Crisps different?+

We are uniquely the only producer of crisps in the UK (possibly the world) that not only grows its own potatoes but also produces the oil they are fried in. And we have won lots of foodie awards — so there you have it, a unique story of quality and provenance.

Can I visit the farm and factory?+

You can come and collect your crisps from the farm; unfortunately we don’t offer tours. You can watch our “home movie” and see how our crisps are made from plough to packet by scanning the QR code on the back of every pack of Just Crisps.

There are some oil spots in my box — is this a problem?+

No — we do get a little oil around the seals on the packets occasionally; this is nothing to worry about. Keep your crisps in a cool place.

What potatoes do you use?+

We typically use two varieties: an early cropping variety called Lady Rosetta (a lovely red-skinned potato) harvested in mid-July through August. We then use Taurus, which is harvested later and stores well, so we can make great crisps all year round.

What is cold-pressed rapeseed oil?+

Cold-pressed (or extra virgin) oil is made simply by squeezing the oil seeds in a press to extract the oil — just like you might squeeze grapes for their juice! It’s a completely natural way and does not use any chemicals or de-nature the oil, unlike other imported refined oils. It’s more expensive, but we think it makes nicer, better quality British crisps.

Dietary & allergens

Are your crisps vegan / vegetarian?+

All are vegetarian. All vegan — except the Mature Cheddar & Onion, which contains MILK. The Taste of Game crisps are all vegan; we create the meaty flavours using a combination of herbs, spices and seasonings.

Are your crisps gluten free?+

All are gluten free — our Sea Salt & Apple Balsamic Vinegar included, which is less than 20ppm (parts per million, the legal limit for declaring gluten free). There is still a tiny trace of BARLEY in the seasoning, which we declare on every bag.

Where can I find allergen information?+

Full ingredient and allergen details are printed on every pack and listed on each product page. If you’re ever unsure about a specific flavour or ingredient, please get in touch and we’ll be glad to help.

Delivery

How much is delivery?+

UK delivery is free on every order, including NI and the Highlands and Islands — no minimum spend.

Where do you deliver?+

We only deliver to the UK & NI.

How quickly will my order arrive?+

We process orders within 2–3 business days and send them by Royal Mail Tracked 48, straight from the farm. Orders aren’t dispatched on weekends or public holidays.

Can I track my parcel?+

Yes — every parcel goes out with a tracking number so you can follow it to your door.

Returns & refunds

I’ve changed my mind?+

If you have received your order and have “changed your mind” for any reason, you may return your order within 14 days of purchase. You will need to cover the postage back. We will then, subject to receiving the crisps in a resaleable condition (not damaged/opened), refund your order value.

If you have changed your mind before receiving your order, please contact us at hello@justcrisps.co.uk or call 01543 493081 and let us know your order details. If your order has not been despatched, we will cancel it and provide a full refund.

Something isn’t right with my order — what do I do?+

If your crisps arrive damaged, or not quite right — we want to put it right straight away. Please contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number, best before date and a photo of the problem.

Damaged in transit?+

Please let us know within 24 hours of delivery so we can send a replacement quickly and raise it with our courier.

How are refunds issued?+

Any refunds are issued to your original payment method and typically reach your account within 5–10 working days, depending on your bank or card provider.

None of the above affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If anything is unclear or you need a hand with a return, please contact the team on 01543 493081 or hello@justcrisps.co.uk.

Trade & other

Do you supply pubs, shops and wholesale?+

What payment methods do you accept?+
